Tyrone Johnson-Neuland
Tyrone Johnson-Neuland is a painter based in Oswego, NY. A native of Norwich, NY, he earned a BFA from Syracuse University in 1990 and an MA from SUNY Oswego in 1999. For more than three decades, he has explored the tradition of Expressionism, channeling personal experiences and observations into paintings that reflect the layers of human emotion and social complexity.
Johnson-Neuland’s work is defined by bold brushstrokes, vivid palettes, and a balance between spontaneity and reflection. His canvases, both abstract and representational, create spaces where inner and outer worlds collide. Influenced by the Expressionist movement, he examines themes of resilience, connection, and transformation, encouraging viewers to consider their own emotional landscapes. Each piece becomes a dialogue between self and society, offering meaning and contemplation.
