Jeremy Schilling

Jeremy Schilling’s work explores the intersections of humanity, environment, and emotion through various mediums, with a particular focus on themes of exploration and connection. In his series, “The Overview Effect,” Schilling delves into the world of astronauts and space travel. He examines the concept of the space suit as a shield between the individual and their environment. Using oil paint, watercolors, and mixed media, these emotionally charged images evoke feelings of homesickness, acceptance of change, and the loneliness that often accompanies exploration.

Growing up in Connecticut, Schilling received training as a landscape painter before attending the Rhode Island School of Design, where he studied Illustration. His diverse experiences inform his artistic practice and continue to inspire his exploration of the human experience through art.
